All under heaven

In from one ear, out from the other.

I am reminded that I write these to summarize some form of daily learnings. I consume a whole heap of information and experientially, I feel like I have learnt a lot. But I realize in these active session of really sitting down and asking what I learnt today, that it's not an incredibly obvious question. (Maybe I am weighting what is a learning to be super high and that is something I have to revise.) The sad reality seems to be that I don't even remember much of what I consumed. As someone on some reel/youtube short said, "Do you remember the short before the last?" and the answer almost always seems to be no!

I guess this is a long way of saying that I don't remember much of what I consume day by day and that I need a more active form of consumption that gets ingested and digested properly and is actively available for recall on demand.

How will I be able to do that? The obvious play seems to be dropping the N of consumption per day such that the small k that I do consume naturally has higher weightage in my mind. That's a low hanging fruit but those are there to be plucked. Another play here is to make the act of consumption itself a more deliberate process. To not just listen passively but write some notes, some questions, re-articulate in real time your understandings of the material. Transform the content into a living breathing piece of material via Notebooklm or Chatgpt/Claude and stress test your understanding by invoking a skill like Feynman's learning method. The balance here to keep in mind would be knowing when and where to use AI in my learning loop. "AI cannot understand for me" as the wisdom is and since I seek understanding, I must take care of that.

It's easy to say what needs to be done but the hard part is actually doing that and I have never been naturally great at that haha. But I hope that one of the future write ups can gush over my learnings on my success with the plays I have drafted here.
